For a brief moment, the Colonial Grenadiers did something few teams have been able to do against Winter Park this football season: take the lead against the undefeated Wildcats.

But that's just what Colonial did Friday night, rushing in a 56-yard touchdown and following up with a 2-point conversion to go up 8-7 for a brief moment before the Wildcats unleashed six straight touchdowns to run away with the game.

Through the first three quarters, the Wildcats went about trouncing their final district opponent before cruising to a 49-7 victory and cementing their position at the top of the district ladder with just one game left in the season.

Quarterback Sam Richardson unloaded on the Grenadier defense, throwing for 320 yards in an offensive display most teams had held him back from this season. He would nail 16 of 23 passes en route to five touchdowns in the air.

All of those passes would come from beyond the Grenadiers' 20-yard line. Not one of the Wildcats' touchdowns came on a red zone possession. Long plays continually bamboozled the Grenadier defense until the end.

Now the Wildcats' (9-0, 3-0) have just one game left in the regular season, against the 5-5 Wekiva Mustangs.

They're coming off a 34-33 nail biter against Sarasota's Booker High School.

Edgewater

The Eagles got to do something they haven't had the chance to do for a while Friday night: Act the spoiler to another team's great season.

And that's just what they did in the East River Falcons' home stadium, blowing them out 51-14 and ending the Falcons' (7-1, 4-1) undefeated season.

Facing tough run defense, the Eagles' J.B. Woodman started firing, launching into a 327-yard passing tirade that caught the Falcons' pass defense napping and led to long plays and big scoring in the first half.

Early in the game, Woodman connected with receiver Alton Howard on a 71-yard pass that would help set the tone for the remaining three and a half quarters.

Meanwhile, the Edgewater defense made swift work of a frequently prolific Falcons' offense, holding them to a shutout in the first half, then allowing only two touchdowns in the rapid-fire mercy clock second half.

The Eagles (6-3, 5-0) take on rival Boone (4-5, 3-2) at 7:30 p.m. Friday for their final game of the regular season.
