Winter Park baseball is hoping for a shot at the postseason as they enter the district tournament, which kicked off at press time Tuesday. The Wildcats, who have dominated in district play with a 6-1 record in the regular season, had more trouble overall, barely breaking even at 13-11.

Lucky for the Wildcats, they host the district tournament, playing on their home field all week. If they can make it as far as the championship game, they’ll take the field at 7 p.m. Friday, weather permitting.

Chip Gierke’s Eagles are also playoff bound, barreling toward the postseason with a 13-2 win over Mt. Dora just before the start of the district playoffs at press time. The Eagles (11-6, 6-1) traveled all the way to Daytona State College for the district tournament, hoping for one of the top two slots that’ll send them to the regional ladder. The district championship starts at 7 p.m. Thursday.
