Wildcats still undefeated

Winter Park continues to hold reign over its district after a 35-10 win over Timber Creek last Friday.

The Wildcats (5-0, 1-0) easily dominated on offense as running back Brandon Brown-Dukes rushed for three touchdowns, including a 43-yard carry in the win. Dukes would finish the game with 112 yards on the ground.

It was a sad homecoming for the Wolves (1-4, 0-1), who scored twice after some impressive passing drives, but not frequently enough to keep up with the Wildcats. Wolves quarterback Jesse McNinch collected 151 yards in the air.

Winter Park quarterback Sam Richardson again shined, connecting on 12 passes for 173 yards to lead his team to the easy victory.

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, the Wildcats host nearby rival Edgewater (3-2, 2-0), which is coming off a 55-6 trouncing of Liberty last Friday.

Edgewater

The Eagles’ Alton Howard had a career night against Liberty last Friday, hauling four touchdown receptions en route to a 55-6 win over Liberty. Howard would collect 210 all-purpose yards in the game.

In that same game, Eagles quarterback J.B. Woodman grabbed some of that spotlight with 204 yards passing.

Lake Howell

At 7:30 p.m. Friday, the Silver Hawks kick off at Colonial in hopes of a first win of the season. The Grenadiers (2-4, 1-0) are coming off a 28-21 nail biter win over University.

Trinity Prep

The Saints are coming off a tight 28-21 win over John Carroll Catholic last week. In that game, quarterback J.J. Wartski threw for 105 yards and two touchdowns, picking up 72 yards on the ground as well.

Wartski’s favorite receiver was Alex Gawronski, who hauled in six passes for 74 yards.

Tevin Covington led the Saints on the ground, picking up 90 yards on 14 carries, averaging 6.4 yards per carry, followed by Ryan Hinkley who ran for 77 yards on 17 carries.

The Saints’ defense also shined, picking up three sacks in the game. Michael Kalaman had nine solo tackles.

Thursday, the Saints (3-2, 2-2) travel to Father Lopez (1-4, 1-1), kicking off at 7 p.m.
