Windermere band wins University Classic

The Fighting Wolverine Band took top honors at the Oct. 2 FMBC competition.

The Windermere High School Fighting Wolverine Band dominated the competition at the 17th annual University Classic Saturday, Oct. 2, at University High School, Orlando.

The Windermere band was crowned Overall Grand Champion at the competition. It also garnered a plethora of section and individual awards, including 5A Best in Class Percussion; 5A Best in Class Visual; 5A Best in Class Music; 5A Best in Class General Effect; 5A Champion; Best in Show Soloist (Jose Ojeda); Scholarship recipient (Jose Ojeda); Fan Favorite Award; Best in Show Visual; Best in Show Music; and Best in Show General Effect.

The University Classic is an FMBC regional competition. Other participants included Crystal River (1A), Pine Ridge (2A), Space Coast (2A), Oakleaf (4A), Oviedo (4A), Treasure Coast (4A), Cypress Creek (4A) and Sebastian River (5A).

University and the UCF Marching Knights performed in exhibition.
