The painting event takes place Nov. 2 and is part of the SOBO Art Gallery’s upcoming “Wild Wild West” exhibition.
The Winter Garden Art Association is hosting a special plein air painting event to coincide with the upcoming “Wild Wild West” exhibition at the SOBO Art Gallery.
The SOBO “Paint Out & About” event takes place 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 2. Artists and art lovers are invited to paint or draw scenes of Winter Garden — or anywhere else of West Orange County — in plein air, which is the act of painting outdoors. Early-bird entry fees are $20 for artists 16 and older and $5 for artists younger than 16. Same-day registration will be $25 for artists 16 and older and $5 for younger artists. Tickets can be purchased at wgart.org/events/plein-air-event/.
All participants must sign at the SOBO Art Gallery — located at 127 S. Boyd St. — and get their canvas or papers stamped from 8 to 10 a.m. in order to participate. Participants are to return to SOBO with their paintings finished, framed and wired for hanging by 3:45 p.m. Each artists can submit up to two submissions. Judges will select and hand out awards for their three favorite paintings or drawings at 5 p.m. Some submissions may be selected to be part of the upcoming “Wild Wild West” exhibition. Each artist is responsible for pricing their work, and must fill out a form agreeing to a 70/30 commission split with the gallery.
