Tonight, Winter Garden city leaders will discuss and vote on the site plan for the 3.5-acre Belle Meade planned commercial development, as well as changes to the benefits and pension plan for city employees.
1. Site plan for Belle Meade commercial subdivision
Commissioners will consider approval of the site plan and developer’s agreement for a commercial outparcel on vacant property located on the northeast corner of Avalon Road and Tilden Road: the Belle Meade Planned Commercial Development. The applicant wishes to develop the 3.5 acres of property with three commercial buildings. Two of those buildings will be single-story structures that house multiple retail suites, and the third building will be a two-story structure with 15,647 square feet of retail space available on the first floor and 8,830 square feet of office space on the second floor.
2. Benefits and retirement plan for city's general employees
The city will address a proposed ordinance that seeks to modify the pension and benefits plan for the city's general employees to align with IRS requirements. Some changes to the benefits include a reduction in the eligibility requirements for normal retirement from age 65 with 5 years of service to age 62 with 5 years of service. The alternative eligibility requirement of reaching age 70 regardless of years of service, or retirement with 30 years of service regardless of age remains unchanged.
