A new building for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida's West Orange branch is another step closer to reality.
Winter Garden commissioners voted unanimously during their Jan. 23 meeting to approve the site plan for the 10,044-square-foot building. The project has been in the works for a few years now, but with the site plan approval under its belt, it's full steam ahead.
Children involved in the West Orange branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida currently meet at the nearby West Orange Recreation Center, but limited space makes it tough to serve the number of children the organization knows it can reach.
With this larger location, the organization will be able to serve triple the number of children it currently does.
Also included on the site plan are a teen game room, multipurpose room, music studio, learning center with computer lab, youth/teen arts lab, and an area for health and life skills.
Check back for an in-depth story of the Jan. 23 commission meeting online and in print on Thursday, Jan. 30.
