Winter Garden plans Halloween experience

Several weeks of opportunities are being offered in place of the annual Halloween Fest, which typically draws thousands of people together downtown.

The city of Winter Garden has created a safer option for Halloween this year since the always-crowded Halloween Fest had to be canceled because of COVID-19. The Socially Distanced Halloween Experience takes place Friday, Oct. 23, through Sunday, Nov. 1. More information and updates can be found online at cwgdn.com.

Halloween decorations and lights will be on display throughout the downtown area, and themed photo locations are set up for families, groups and individuals to have their photo taken.

A Harvest Sidewalk Sale & Stroll will take place Friday, Oct. 23, and Saturday, Oct. 24, in downtown Winter Garden and at the Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves. There will be outdoor sales racks and tables; in-store and online seasonal specials and promotions; and curbside delivery.

A Spooky Caboose is sponsored by the Winter Garden History Foundation.

The Garden Theatre is showing two themed movies: “Carrie” Oct. 25 and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” Oct. 30 and 31. For tickets, visit gardentheatre.org/movies/.

A Halloween-themed outdoor projection show can be seen on the exterior of Winter Garden City Hall from 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 23 through 25 and 29 through 31.

A fall-themed farmers market with seasonal produce is open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays.

Merchants also will set out their themed decorations and themed food items

There will be a hay maze, and a special scarecrow contest is open to city residents, businesses and organizations. Twenty scarecrows will be chosen to display at the hay maze and other locations. Enter the contest at cwgdn.com/DocumentCenter/View/2681/Scarecrow-Entry-Form.
