Winter Park City Commission considers purchase of lot for additional greenspace

A piece of property at 2917 Temple Trail could be purchased by the city for trail connectivity.

The Winter Park City Commission will consider purchasing 0.83 acres of land adjacent to the Howell Branch Preserve at its Monday meeting — opening up an opportunity to add more passive park space and trail connectivity within the city.

A parcel of land at 2917 Temple Trail currently has a 1,853-square-foot house on the site, but that structure would be demolished if the sale goes through to make way for the added park space. A creek bed currently runs through the land, which connects two major pieces of the Howell Branch Preserve.

The city would be paying $318,000 for the land under the current contract.
