Winter Park City Commissioners will discuss a proposed rooftop venue for the city’s new library and event center – and whether it should be part of the original construction.
The City Commission had previously approved designing just the first floor of the facility with the potential for a rooftop venue in the future. But city staff believes that the rooftop should be designed sooner rather than later, according to the agenda staff report.
“If too much more time elapses before the rooftop is designed it will not be practical to include that element in the original project construction,” the agenda item states. “To do the rooftop as a future phase two would require shutting down the events center for a period of time and would cost even more to construct.”
The cost of the design is approximately $290,000.
