June 8 City Commission meeting highlights

Mayor’s Report

• The FMEA 2014 Community Service Award was presented.

• Two proclamations were presented in celebration of the Electric Utility’s 10th anniversary and Code Enforcement Officer’s Appreciation Week.

• Board appointments to the Visioning Steering Committee and Winter Park Firefighters’ Pension Board were made and confirmed.

Consent Agenda

• The minutes for May 11, 2015 were approved.

• The contracts were approved (for a complete list, please visit cityofwinterpark.org/ccpackets).

• The Florida Department of Transportation Quiet Zone Project Grant Agreement, subject to city attorney review and approval of forthcoming final draft, was approved.

• The budget amendment for stormwater and public works was approved.

Public Hearings

• The following request of Philip Kean was approved:

— Subdivision or lot split approval to divide the property at 456 W. Lyman Ave. into two buildable lots. Subdivision variances are requested for the 50-foot lot width and 3,750 square feet of lot area in lieu of the 75-foot of lot width and 8,500 square feet of lot area required in the R-1A zoning.

• The following request of Adam Bert and Todd Albert was approved:

— Subdivision or lot split approval to divide the property at 500 Fairfax Ave. into two buildable lots. Subdivision variances are requested for the 50-foot lot width in lieu of the 100-foot lot width required in the R-1AA zoning.

• The following requests of the Winter Park Racquet Club Inc. for the property at 2011 Via Tuscany were approved:

— First reading of the ordinance to amend the “Comprehensive Plan” Future Land Use map to change from Single Family Residential to an Open Space and Recreation Future Land Use designation.

— First reading of the ordinance to amend the official zoning map to change from Single Family District zoning to Parks & Recreation.

• The request of Icon Residential for Conditional Use approval to redevelop the 3.45 acres collectively referred to as 1800 Lee Road, including the tax parcels of 1746/1800/1802/1806/1810/1814/1818/1824/1828/ 1832 Lee Road for a 30-unit townhouse development, was postponed until the Monday, June 22, City Commission meeting.

• The real estate purchase and sale between Orange County School Board, City of Winter Park and UP Fieldgate US Investments – Winter Park, LLC was tabled.

• The Indemnity Agreement between the city and UP Fieldgate US Investments – Winter Park, LLC was tabled.

• The resolution extending the term of existence for the Visioning Steering Committee was approved.

• The resolution approving the Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to have decorative lighting installed on the south side of Fairbanks Avenue between Orlando Avenue and Interstate 4 was approved.

• The resolution approving the JPA with FDOT to have decorative lighting installed on Aloma Avenue between Cortland and Shepherd avenues was approved.

• The following items related to Fairbanks Avenue undergrounding were approved:

— Agreement regarding construction of underground electric distribution lines with Duke Energy Florida.

— Resolution – Approving JPA with FDOT to reimburse the city for undergrounding Duke Energy’s distribution facilities along Fairbanks Avenue between Orlando Avenue and Interstate 4.

— Three-party agreement with Duke Energy, FDOT and the city relating to the undergrounding of Duke Energy’s transmission line.

Save the date: 20th anniversary of city’s Fourth of July Celebration

The city of Winter Park is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Olde Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration Saturday, July 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Central Park. Wear your red, white and blue, bring a blanket or beach chair, and gather with family and friends to enjoy this Winter Park tradition.

The special 20th anniversary celebration will feature live patriotic music performed by the Bach Festival Choir and Brass Ensemble joined by Central Florida Community Arts, Clydesdale horse-drawn wagon rides, Orlando Cloggers, Rockin’ Roadster Road Show, and much more!
