Five straight wins for the Winter Park Wildcats have put them on a roll on their way into the thick of district play on the gridiron. The Wildcats outlasted Boone (0-5) in a 43-36 slugfest Sept. 27 to notch their fifth straight win, though one of their toughest.

The Wildcats seemingly had the game in the bag when they entered halftime with a 29-14 lead, but the Braves kept coming back in the second half, with a crucial drive marching down the field with a minute to go. But the Braves lost the ball on an interception in what could have been the winning drive of the game, ending their shot at a comeback.

Already with a district win under their belts, the Wildcats will dive into district play for the next three games, traveling to Timber Creek for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Friday. The Wolves are 3-1 this season including a similar 46-35 win when they outlasted a 1-4 Olympia team.

Edgewater

In what may be the most frustrating streak in team history, the Edgewater Eagles fell 34-31 to Olympia on Sept. 20, their fifth-straight loss, all of which came by a touchdown or less. Even more frustratingly, four of those five losses came by a margin of a field goal or less.

The Eagles will be fighting for a district win against Leesburg this Friday. The Yellowjackets are 4-1 on the season after obliterating West Port 63-0. The game kicks off at Edgewater at 7 p.m.
