Wildcats continue wild season

Winter Park only needed a few minutes to provide the winning score in what would soon become a blowout, as they easily ruined University’s homecoming game with a 52-7 rout.

The Wildcats had already amassed 38 points in a mid-game shutout at halftime, but experimented with some new players in a noticeably less productive second half.

Some bizarre plays on the Cougars’ side of the ball resulted in some entertainment for the crowd, including some difficult reverse plays that the Cougars’ pulled off en route to their only touchdown of the game.

The rest of the four quarters was all Wildcats, as quarterback Sam Richardson again gave a dominant performance in the air. He passed for 242 yards, with five touchdown passes.

But the quarterbacking duties weren’t all Richardson’s on the night, as Xavier Amerson showed some skill both tossing the first touchdown pass and receiving the second touchdown pass of the night.

Still undefeated, the Wildcats (7-0, 2-0) will ride their massive winning streak to Colonial on Nov. 5, after a bye week.

Colonial (4-4, 1-1) is having one of its best seasons in a decade, though they fell 31-7 to district rival Timber Creek in their most recent game.

Edgewater

The Eagles bounced back in a big way after losing to Winter Park a week before, crushing Harmony 28-14 Friday night.

This week, the Eagles (4-3, 3-0) will take the long ride to Poinciana for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Friday.

It’ll be a battle of Eagles against Eagles, though the Poinciana Eagles (0-7, 0-3) has the odds stacked against them, having lost by a combined point total of 277-69 this season, including a heartbreaking 49-44 loss to Florida Air Academy – the only game in which the Eagles have scored more than one touchdown this season.
