The Lake Lily food truck event is moving to Wednesdays, starting Oct. 19. The city said there's more parking available at the Civic Center on Wednesday nights to accommodate the growing event.
Here's what Chuck Jordan, Maitland's leisure services director, wrote in response to the Observer's email inquiry about the change:
Food Truck Café will be held every Wednesday from 6-9 p.m. at Lake Lily Park in Maitland. Check the city’s Facebook page or TheDailyCity.com for more details and updates.
We are very pleased with the popularity of our Food Truck Café. As a result of this popularity, we have been presented with a challenge regarding parking availability in the immediate vicinity of Lake Lily Park.
In addition to making arrangements with numerous area businesses to make overflow parking available, the Maitland Civic Center has graciously agreed to assist us with parking as well. The Civic Center (not operated by the city) has a significantly greater attendance for their programs on Tuesdays then they do on Wednesdays. Moving the
Food Truck Café to Wednesdays will result in a better use of existing parking facilities and hopefully create a more enjoyable and relaxed experience for both Food Truck Café and Civic Center patrons alike.
