FEB. 10

First United Methodist Church of Winter Park is presenting its fourth annual Broadway- bound production, a musical dinner theater event on Feb. 10 and 11. This year will be selections from “Mary Poppins”, “Cinderella”, and “George M”. There will also be a preshow, which will include several songs performed by local talented artists from 6:30 to 7 p.m. as dinner is being served. Visit www.fumcwp.org

The Planetarium at Seminole State College of Florida will present a special Valentine's Day show called "Heavenly Love" at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10 and Saturday, Feb. 11, and again at 7 p.m. on Valentine’s Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14. On Saturday, Feb. 11, the Orlando Science Center will host its “Bee My Valentine” Holiday Workshop. Parents with children ages 3-5 are welcome to attend. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The workshop costs $25 per parent and child. General admission is $17 for adults and $12 for children ages 3-11. On Saturday, Feb. 11, the Hilton Altamonte Springs will host the All Saints MOPS Sweetheart Ball and Reverse Draw. Bring your Valentine and enjoy a fun evening of dinner, dancing, prizes and a chance to win $2,000. The Park Avenue Area Association will be hosting a Valentine Concert featuring Michael Andrew & Swingerhead from 4-6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12. Learn firsthand from the pros all there is to know about being a chocolate connoisseur. On Feb. 12, Peterbrooke Chocolatier of Winter Park will launch Chocolate 101, the first in a series of interactive classes for 2012. The 90-minute class is available for up to eight guests and can also be booked privately for events, birthday parties and themed celebrations. The cost is $40 per person. The Bach Festival Society is pleased to have 60 members of its Bach Festival Choir join Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli for his only Central Florida performance on Feb.12 at the Amway Center.

The February concert of the Central Florida Jazz Society will take place from 3-5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 12 at The Abbey, located at 100 S. Eola Drive, Suite 100, in Orlando. The concert features Jarritt Sheel’s “Harlem Renaissance Tribute to Duke Ellington and Count Basie and other important swing era band leaders.” This jazz oratorio, accompanied by monologues, will celebrate Black History Month by concentrating on African-American contributions to the development of jazz music. Suggested donations are as follows: $13 for members, $20 for non-members, $3 for college students with ID $ and free for high school students and Younger. The incomparable Ms. Jacqueline Jones is back by popular demand, and will present her cabaret, “What is This Thing Called Love,” at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 and 16 as part of the Winter Park Playhouse Spotlight Cabaret Series. Tickets are $20 and include a drink from the bar. Standing room tickets are $10 and do not include a drink. Seating is limited to 54, so advance reservations are strongly recommended.
