Don’t miss this space tomorrow evening!
Tomorrow I’ve assigned myself the task of trying to capture some of the best deals on the Avenue for this weekend’s Sidewalk Sale! Pictures, info and MORE . . . here. Get a head start on your fellow competitors, uh, I mean shoppers, by tuning in HERE first!
And starting on Friday, stop by to see me on The Avenue as I hang out in the area of Prato and Downeast. I’ll not only have a broad array of my I LUV Winter Park t-shirt designs – including some new ones I haven’t put online as yet – but will also be able to sign you for a subscription to the Winter Park Maitland Observer! Got a son or daughter going away to college, have a friend or neighbor who’s moving away or has moved and his homesick for Winter Park? Well, there’s ONE paper which actually COVERS Winter Park and provides you with original, unique content from Locals! What better way to soothe their longing than a subscription to the Observer?
This week’s Totally Local Tuesday was a blur. I’m so happy with the reception and so optimistic about where this could go! Based on requests from Local businesses the goal is to make this a weekly event starting in August. I not only spent yesterday running about and dealing with Local businesses and discussing plans, but documented two gorgeous arrangements one business, Blooms of Winter Park, sent to the Mayor, City Manager and City Commissioners to commemorate it. Confession: This is just fun to me, and while we’ve got big time kinks to work out, it feels awfully good to see the idea so well received. Go Local and you’re already HOME! Oh, and just a quick fyi I’ll be talking about more in coming weeks, I’m in the process of working with a Local sign and print company to put together signs, banners and more for interested businesses. Want to participate in Totally Local Tuesday? Well, we’ll have a designated LOCAL resource to help you get up and running quickly!
I am excited about some of my new t-shirt designs so PLEASE, if you’re on the Avenue this weekend, stop by and see me. I don’t bite and aside from that, I’ve had my shots! I’m also going to be working on next week’s column and need some Locals who LUV Local to provide their thoughts and input!
This week on ILUVWinterPark.com, in addition to Totally Local Tuesday we’ve also been focusing on what I call LOCALx2. If you know about all the benefits of doing business, staying LOCAL, well, this is all about that times 2! It’s Local businesses selling LOCAL products! This is definitely a theme I’m going to be running with a lot in the future. It’s not just a Local homerun . . . it’s sort of the Local grand slam! Monday the focus was on Pookie’s Pet Nutrition and Bow Wow Bakery and the Local products they carry . . . . so many I couldn’t fit them all on the piece! Today the focus on Sophisticated Peacock designs, made in Winter Park and sold at Blue Door Denim Shoppe on Park Avenue. They’re 15% OFF through this Sunday, the end of the Sidewalk Sale. And tomorrow . . . . we focus on a Local shoe success story you may have never heard of . . . . yet it’s now GLOBAL! Local is where it’s at, people!
Dang, this is fun.
I’m WAITING for doggie pics! SEND ME YOUR DOGGIE PICS!
Closing tonight with another ‘Give A Dog A Home’ from Judy’s Pet Rescue . . . .
Is this little darling the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? Poor thing has had a rough going in her young life. Judy’s isn’t just looking for a home for this sweet baby, but also having a bit of a contest to name her. If you’re on facebook, LIKE Pet Rescue by Judy because they deserve to be LUVed, LUVed, LUVed! I swear we’re going to do an event at some point in the future which we roast – you know, the fun kind, not like cooking! – Judy Sarullo and then have the woman SAINTED on the spot! She deserves it.
Okay, on that note, one more thing. My latest Local effort is about saving Local businesses money AND I’m pledging 10% of what I make to PRBJ for their wonderful works! I’ll save you $$$ OR I’ll donate $300 to PRBJ in your name! Plus, you get one of these great window decals . . . . and if I say so myself, they’re AWESOME! First one just went up at The Bistro in the Hidden Garden Courtyard off Park Avenue!
