The city of Winter Park will have a Fall Cleanup in October in addition to the annual Spring Cleanup is pleased to announce that in addition to the annual Spring Cleanup. This large-item pickup service will provide a ‘bonus’ day on which Waste Pro®, the city’s solid waste service provider, will pick up old furniture, broken appliances and other bulky items. To take advantage of this convenient service, residents must place their items curbside after 5 p.m. on the evening before their second scheduled garbage and trash pickup day on their designated cleanup week. Artistic Director Dario J. Moore will lead an interactive evening of dance and dialogue at The Center for Contemporary Dance in Winter Park from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21. Returning from a month-long residency with the Djerassi Resident Artists Program, Moore will share insights gained in his creative process and debut evolving new solo works developed over the course of the residency. On Sunday, Oct. 21, the Winter Park Sunday Running Group of the Orlando Runners Club will conduct its annual drive to collect blankets for residents of the Men’s Pavilion at Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. The city of Winter Park’s Art on the Green 2012 will feature the unique and creative works of eight noted sculptors on display during park hours from Sept. 1 to March 1. The Hannibal Square Heritage Center presents “Keeping Haiti In Our Hearts: Interpreting Heritage In The Diaspora” through Saturday, Dec. 29. The heritage center is located at 642 New England Ave., Winter Park and is open from noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, from noon to 5 p.m. on Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. The Polasek Gardens will host five Tai Chi sessions with instructor Bill Burnette. The sessions will be hosted in the sculpture gardens and are open for beginners and those already practiced in Tai Chi. The classes will be every Saturday in September from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. regardless of weather. The prices for the general public are $50 for the entire series or $10 per session, museum members pay $40 for the series or $8 per session.
