TGIF. VERY TGIF.

I might consider digging a hole and just crawling in for a few days, but I’m turning into a large owl tomorrow. It’s not a painful process. Quite fun, actually.

So, it is FRIDAY, after a LONG week of roller coaster-like ups and downs, twists and turns, so, going to try to wrap it all up quickly . . . which is never my specialty.

First . . . as I said, today on ILUVWinterPark.com I am promoting tomorrow’s trick-or-treat activities on Park Avenue tomorrow during the hours of 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Specifically, I’m promoting that Parker – said grande size owl – and Downeast Bear will be assisting with candy duties at Downeast. One large dopey owl and one grumpy, womanizing bear . . . hopefully they’ll get along with no fights!

Yesterday, on the site I was promoting a Local opportunity for those Local parents who never seem to have enough sitters or are looking for one good one, or a nanny. Central Florida Nannies is hosting an event which will be like speed-dating for parents and potential caregivers. Check out the accompany flyer . . . it’s HALF OFF if you book before Halloween!

Yesterday I was out and about in two areas. I was invited over to Audubon Park to try one of the new lunch items being offered by Ice Cream Treats on Corrine. My pizza was quite good. It’s actually made by a Local specialty pizza maker especially for them and I definitely recommend giving it a try. Lunch items are an addition to their offerings. Look for more in the future. It was the first time I’d been in since their grand opening and it was great to see Heidi Lifrage artwork on the walls. I actually introduced Heidi to the owner that very day, and in addition to her art work on the walls, she’s also now teaching children’s art classes there! Just another successful Local intro by your’s truly!

Next I popped over the Dutch Door Antiques. I’ve only peered through the windows here before, always seeming to be around when they were closed. I lucked out yesterday, got to meet the owners, Veronica and Stephanie, check out the cool items they have literally IN store! I’m a sucker for vintage items, antiques, CHARACTER period. I get nostalgic for a time not just when we really made things in this country, but for a time when even small, simple items were made with such detail and attention. Some of my personal favorites in that regard are vintage Daher tins. While at Dutch Door yesterday I LUVed the large vintage start which lights, but also how creative they’ve gotten with some of the architectural remnants which have been made into birdhouses, cages and such. AND, they have Local artwork by such artists as Helene De Lille and Stewart Jones, who does a lot of Winter Park scenes. If you haven’t been in, I highly recommend checking it out. It’s not a big shop, but it is big on what it offers!

From there I quickly drove down to Ivanhoe Village to pick up my prize! My friend Ali, owner of Living Morocco, had a facebook contest recently which I won! He does these each month, so if you haven’t been in to the shop, haven’t already ‘LIKE’d his facebook page, do so and you, too, could bring home a prize! Mine were these great Moroccan tea glasses! We visited Morocco in 2000 and I LUV Moroccan EVERYTHING! THANKS, Ali! These are likely to become mixed drink glasses at our house . . . and no day like Friday to break them in!

In lieu of a 'Give A Dog A Home' today . . . . let's try to give LOTS a home! Bring your kids, both two and four-legged out this Sunday for the Doggie Door's Pet Costume Contest from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are always rescue groups in attendance and it is always FUN & FUNNY! It's a great day on the Avenue, one many of us look forward to all year! Join us!
