The Grateful Dead is back for the third annual “Grateful Dead Meet Up at the Movies 2013” at 7:30 p.m. (local time) on Thursday, Aug. 1. This year’s Meet Up features “Sunshine Daydream,” the most requested release of the band’s entire career. Originally shot on 16mm film on the grounds of the Oregon Country Fair in Veneta, Ore., in 1972—and painstakingly restored to HD resolution—“Sunshine Daydream” captures the band at the height of their power. The film will show at Regal Winter Park Stadium 20 at 510 N. Orlando Ave.
Orlando Museum of Art’s First Thursdays will feature Luis Garcia on guitar, and Humberto Velez on flute, plus food from Maxine’s on Shine, excerpts from the musical comedy “Disenchanted” and an art contest, plus drinks from 6 to 9 p.m. Visit omart.org for more information.

Love to sing? Want to sing and help in the community at the same time? The Orlando Circle of Friends Chorus is dedicated to entertaining while supporting local charities. We will be holding vocal auditions from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5. We are mostly looking for tenor and bass voices, but all are welcome! Contact us for an audition time. The Tarflower chapter of the Florida Native Plant Society will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at Harry P. Leu Gardens, 1920 N. Forest Ave. in Orlando. Randy Mejeur, ecologist with AECOM, will discuss how to identify plant species. It’s free and open to the public.

Mayor Ken Bradley’s CoffeeTalk will be held Friday, Aug. 9, in conjunction with the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce’s Good Morning Winter Park at the Winter Park Welcome Center. Networking begins at 7:45 a.m. and the Mayor’s CoffeeTalk will begin at 8 a.m.

Once again the Central Florida Regional Transportation Authority (LYNX) downtown terminal will host some hot music and cool tunes. Every Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. through Aug. 20, a free hour-long Tunes in the Terminal concert will showcase musical talent from several Central Florida entertainers at LYNX Central Station.
