Winter in the Park returns to Winter Park’s Central Park West Meadow throughout the holidays, starting with a special opening day event on Friday, Nov. 15. Tickets for skating on the indoor ice rink all day will be $5, or half off normal price. The event will be open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. at 150 N. New York Ave. on the corner of New York Avenue and Morse Boulevard. It’s all housed underneath a weatherproof tent to make it perfect for all conditions, even if it’s snowing outside.

Champion the lung cancer cause by registering today for the third annual Free to Breathe Orlando 5K Run/Walk and 1-Mile Walk on Saturday, Nov. 16 at Moss Park. The inspirational event will bring the community together to raise funds that will fuel groundbreaking research necessary for making the dramatic breakthroughs in early detection and treatment that can save lives. All proceeds support the National Lung Cancer Partnership, a non-profit organization dedicated to doubling lung cancer survival by 2022. Orlando Museum of Art’s Council of 101 is proud to announce the 27th annual Festival of Trees will be held Saturday, Nov. 16. through Sunday, Nov. 24. This year’s theme will be “All That Glitters” and is expected to bring sparkle and shine to all of the festival’s special events. Visit omart.org for more information.

The Mayor’s Sole Challenge is a fun, free 30-minute walk through downtown Winter Park. The festivities begin in Central Park at 7 a.m., and will include food, music, dancing and health screenings from Florida Hospital. The walk is great for all ages so please gather your family, friends and neighbors to join our Winter Park team. This is a friendly competition between the communities of Winter Park, Eatonville and Maitland to see who can bring out the most walkers. The city that has the most participants will be awarded $2,500 from the event sponsor, Healthy Central Florida. With your help we can make our community the healthiest in the nation!
