New Hope for Kids announces fundraising campaign
New Hope for Kids hopes to raise $2.5 million through their Building New Hope campaign to support the purchase and renovation of a building that will allow the consolidation and growth of its children’s programs. This project will transition the current Center for Grieving Children located in Maitland to a new location at 544 Mayo Ave. Since 1996, New Hope for Kids has been helping Central Florida children in need by providing specialized support to children and families grieving the loss of a loved one and granting wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses.
Happy hour funds food bank
In an effort to fight hunger this holiday season, the Winter Park Chamber of Commerce partnered with Winter Park Village to host Happy Hour for Hunger on Tuesday, Nov. 13. Presented by Ruth’s Chris Steak House and Mitchell’s Fish Market, the fall-themed event included drinks and appetizers provided by Winter Park Village restaurants, plus live entertainment and a photo booth. All ticket proceeds went to benefit Feed the Need, Winter Park’s community-wide initiative to raise funds for Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida.
WPPD hosts holiday food and clothing drive
In an effort to give back this holiday season, the Winter Park Police Department is hosting a holiday food and clothing drive. The drive will run through Dec. 12 and the donated goods will be disseminated to local food banks that service senior citizens and children in need. Donations can be dropped off at the lobby of the Police Department located at 500 N. Virginia Ave.
