APRIL 10

Join the Central Florida Mineral and Gem Society, a not-for-profit educational organization, at a Rock, Mineral, Gem, Jewelry & Fossil Show on April 10, 11 and 12 at the Florida National Guard Armory. Show times are as follows: April 10 from 1 to 6 p.m., April 11 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and April 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors will be offering beads, minerals, gemstones, custom jewelry, fossils, artifacts, metaphysical stones, etc. There will be a silent auction and door prizes, as well as demonstrations of faceting stones, cabochons, wire wrapping and chain mail. Stop and smell the roses as the spring season begins when the city’s Parks & Recreation Department’s Landscape Division will host its first Park Avenue Garden Tour on Saturday, April 11, at 9 a.m. Join a city horticulture specialist on this flowery, two-block tour will share an intimate glimpse into Park Avenue’s eye-catching planters, topiaries, hanging baskets and more. Come find a great deal at Baldwin Park’s annual Porch Sale & Annual Flea Markets on Saturday, April 11 from 8 a.m. to noon. This community-wide porch sale will be set up in Enders Park, High Park, and at Corrine Commons in front of Grace Hopper Hall. There will be a variety of items from clothes and toys to electronics and furniture. There will be great finds so come out and shop early!

Join artists and fine crafters for the 27th annual Maitland Spring Festival of the Arts. The Festival will be held at Lake Lily on April 11 and 12. The juried arts and fine crafts show is produced by the Maitland Area Chamber of Commerce. Attendees will be able to stroll around the lake and be entertained by live music in this two-day event. Spend a fun afternoon nibbling on delicious food, sipping wine from Napa Valley and shopping from local and national boutiques at the fifth annual Wine Women and Shoes event on April 11. The Central Florida Orchid Society will hold its annual spring Orchid Show and Sale on April 11 and 12. Guests are invited to the Bahia Shrine where the event will go from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Plant vendors and supplies vendors will be on site with a large variety of beautiful, flowering orchid plants and potting and mounting supplies. Enjoy an Ice Cream Social to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, at the Winter Park Civic Center, located at 1050 W. Morse Blvd. in Winter Park. The Friends of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Florida will transform the center into a fun, family-friendly place. The event will feature delicious ice cream and treats, cake, games, contests, door prizes, a silent auction, and entertainment for the whole family. Scheduled activities and attractions include create a sundae, an old-fashioned cakewalk, pin the cherry on the sundae, a barbershop quartet and a special appearance by ventriloquist and magician Jacki Manna. New England Ave. Taste of Winter Park showcases more than 40 of Central Florida's top chefs, bakers, caterers and confectioners. Experience a red carpet event unlike any other on Saturday, April 25 as local law enforcement volunteer as fathers for a night to benefit young women, homeless youth and survivors of human trafficking from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Double Tree Hotel at Sea World. This ball is a tremendous initiative to allow fathers and father figures to set a high example and standard for young women who are lacking a male figure in their lives. It is time again for Central Florida residents and visitors to lace up their shoes and come out for the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA)’s Orlando Take Steps. The fun-filled day is one of more than 100 Take Steps walks occurring across the nation in support of finding a cure for digestive diseases. Jones Family Foundation Princess Ball from 6 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 at the Orlando Marriot World Center, located at 8701 World Center Drive in Orlando.
