Food pantries seek donations

Make a difference by donating to a food pantry near you during September, also known as Hunger Action Month! There are over 600,000 people who struggle with hunger in Central Florida. All through the month of September, Catholic Charities of Central Florida is raising awareness about what you can do to help! Visit cflcc.org/alleviate-hunger for Catholic Charities of Central Florida pantry locations and a list of most needed food items.

Maitland A&H reaches fundraising milestone

The Art & History Museums – Maitland achieved its goal five months early to raise $100,000 during the inaugural year of its Landmark Society initiative. The Landmark Society is a circle of funders who donated $1,000 or more to the A&H since the campaign launched in December. Donations support restoration and improvements to A&H’s historic campus, as well as educational programs.

Local banker receives service award

Ed Timberlake, chair of the Central Florida Board for Seaside National Bank & Trust, was recently honored by Volunteer Florida Commissioner Sherry Wheelock, designated by Gov. Rick Scott, with a Champion of Service Award in recognition of his lifelong service. Timberlake was presented with the award during Heart of Florida United Way’s Community Volunteer Excellence Awards.
