When your alarm goes off before the sun is even awake on Saturday, Feb. 14, remind your partner that you’re doing this because you love them and their health. Take the short trek to Winter Park to take a romantic run around the Winter Pines Golf Course in Track Shack’s annual Run Around the Pines 5K starting bright and early at 7:30 a.m. on Valentine’s Day. If a 5K feels like no sweat, you can sign up to race in the event’s Olympic Challenge. Two Olympians from Winter Haven – Rowdy Gaines, a three-time gold medalist swimmer, and 1996 Olympic runner Keith Brantly – are competing in a 400 yard swim and 5K run for bragging rights and to raise money for Cady Way Pool. Be an Olympic Challenger and take on real Olympians right here in your own backyard at Cady Way Park. The swim starts at 6:50 a.m., allowing time for a quick change before the 5K kicks off. Wetsuits are allowed. To register for the race and for more information, visit http://bit.ly/1DIiVVi
