JUNE 11

The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce and Park Avenue Merchants Association invite you to sip, shop and stroll with your sweetheart on Thursday, June 11, from 5 to 8 p.m. Experience the charm of Park Avenue on a summer's eve. Spend the evening visiting your favorite Park Avenue area shops and restaurants. Discover new merchants, check out the latest fashions, gift ideas and seasonal menu items and enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres along the way. The event is taking place at the Park Avenue area in downtown Winter Park. Check-in is at the corner of Morse Boulevard and Park Avenue. Tickets are $25 each and are now on sale. Popcorn Flicks returns to Central Park for a showing of “Batman” on Thursday, June 11, at 8 p.m. The event is presented by Winter Park CRA and produced by Enzian Theater. This film series features classic films for the whole family. You’re encouraged to bring a blanket, a picnic or snacks, and family and friends! Free popcorn is available for everyone. Rise and shine with Good Morning Winter Park, an event presented by Florida Blue. End your week with coffee, conversation and networking with fellow Winter Park Chamber of Commerce members on Friday, June 12, from 7:45 to 8:15 a.m. Hear from Winter Park Mayor Steve Leary as part of the city's annual CoffeeTalk series. The event is free and open to the public and includes a complimentary continental breakfast. The meeting location is set for 151 W. Lyman Ave. in Winter Park.

In “Colors,” the CFCArts Symphony Orchestra will present symphonic masterpieces in an immersive concert that embraces special lighting, projection, and visual art, bringing both familiar and unexpected music to life before our eyes (and ears). This creative, collaborative, and colorful concert will be performed at Calvary Assembly, located at 1199 Clay Street in Winter Park at 8 p.m. on June 12 and 13. Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs will deliver her 2015 “State of Orange County” address on Friday, June 12, at 9 a.m. at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts. The annual address will take citizens on a journey highlighting the outstanding achievements of Orange County and the many milestones the community has accomplished together. This June, Bookmark It’s Friday Wine & Sign series invites you to discover Florida with three local non-fiction authors whose unique books each deliver a fascinating perspective of our state through food, fauna and four-wheeled adventures! Beginning on Friday, June 12, Peggy Lantz, author of “Florida's Edible Wild Plants,” will be serving up insight on exploring and foraging our state’s natural environment. In addition to sharing her 50-plus years of experience, Peggy promises to bring a selection of Florida’s finest edible ‘weeds’ for identification and taste testing! One in 200 Americans will need a bone marrow or blood stem cell transplant in their lifetime. Salon Vaxxe will host a donor recruitment drive and fundraiser to register potential bone marrow donors on behalf of the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation on Saturday, June 13, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 400 W. New England Ave. in Winter Park. The drive will benefit patients suffering from lymphoma, leukemia and other blood cancers who are in need of a bone marrow transplant.

The Daddy and Family Orlando Expo is being held on Saturday, June 13, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Winter Park Community Center. The event is open to the public and is the largest event focused on dads in the country, with the goal to celebrate the role of dads in family life. The Music at the Casa series continues at the Casa Feliz Home Museum on Sunday afternoons from noon to 3 p.m. Listen to live music and take a tour of the museum and the James Gamble Rogers II Studio, led by trained docents. Experience the best local indie film showcase and vote for each month’s winner at the Enzian Theater’s FilmSlam series, located at 1300 S. Orlando Ave. in Maitland. Usually held every second Sunday at 1 p.m., FilmSlam is a monthly indie film showcase and competition open to Florida filmmakers and students. This series empowers audience members to select each month’s winner, who then advances to participate in Enzian’s Brouhaha Film & Video Showcase. JUNE 15 A free lecture titled “Living Well After Stroke” will be held Monday, June 15, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Winter Park Civic Center. Held on the third Monday of each month, stroke survivors and caregivers are invited to gather to learn from various educational and inspirational speakers. Dr. Janet D. Whiteside, a clinical educator at the University of Central Florida, will lead the lecture and focus on one’s emotional well-being as a central factor to rehabilitative success following a stroke, including how social support, environment, and other elements impact recovery. Spend this Father’s Day with your little one learning some pro grilling and gardening tips at the East End Market. This is a learn-by-doing class! First, Chef Jes will help you craft a custom marinade and guide you through grilling up the perfect lunch. While it’s sizzling, garden guru John Rife will help you and your budding gardener plant a spring vegetable to take home and watch grow. Join the Crealde School of Art at 600 Saint Andrews Blvd. in Winter Park through Aug. 15 to celebrate its 40th anniversary homecoming! View the works of nine Crealde-inspired artists who have moved on to become exhibiting professional artists. These former students exhibit works in various media and share stories of how their artistic careers were influenced through experiences at the school. The exhibit is curated by Barbara Tiffany, director, painting & drawing and curator of exhibitions.
