MARCH 3

Enjoy the charm of downtown Winter Park at the Sip, Shop & Stroll on Thursday, March 3. Held three times a year, the event allows attendees to preview the latest fashions, gift ideas and seasonal menu items. Tickets and event information are available at winterpark.org.

MARCH 5

The eighth annual Fiddler’s Green 5K is a fun run/walk hosted by Fiddler’s Green Irish Pub on Saturday, March 5. The race, which begins at 7:30 a.m., starts at Mead Garden and meanders though beautiful Winter Park, returning to finish at Mead Garden. From there, the runners are invited back for a beer and some fun at Fiddler’s Green Irish Pub. Cost is $25 to $35. Call 407-599-3397.

The ninth annual Doggie Derby will be Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Corrine Commons at 1913 Meeting Place in Baldwin Park. The race is free to spectators and $15 per racing dog. Registration is currently open at doggiederby.com/register-your-dog

MARCH 6

The 37th annual Winter Park St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held on Sunday, March 6, at 2 p.m. in downtown Winter Park. This year’s celebration will feature Irish music and step-dancing at the main stage in Central Park, with demonstrations by the Tir Na Greine School of Irish Dance and the Watters School of Irish Dance. The parade will begin at the Winter Park Golf Course and continue south down Park Avenue to Lyman Avenue. Call 407-222-0648.

A program held on Sunday, March 6, by the Orlando Area Historical Rose Society will show pictures and provide growing information for some of the beautiful antique roses that the rose society will offer for sale at the Leu Garden Plant Sale, March 12 and 13. The meeting begins at 2:30 p.m. at Leu Gardens in the Orchid Room located in the main building, located at 1920 N. Forest Ave. in Orlando. Doors open at 2 p.m. For directions call 407-246-2620. A March Members’ Luncheon for the Goldenrod Chamber of Commerce will be held at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, at the Goldenrod Station, located at 4755 Palmetto Ave. in Goldenrod. Guest speaker Randolph Russell will speak on American History and Civics Literacy. He’s the author of “American History in no time” – a quick and easy way for anyone to learn the basics of our past. His presentation is as informative as it is entertaining. Having been a professional musician, he closes by playing “America the Beautiful” on the saxophone. Come see “The Hobbit” written by Patricia Gray and adapted from the beloved novel by J.R.R Tolkien on March 10, 11, and 12 at 7 p.m. with ASL interpreters on March 10 and a matinee performance on March 12 at 2 p.m. Set in the spectacular wonder of Middle Earth, one brave hobbit accompanied by a band of dwarves and a magical ring embark on the adventure of a lifetime. This experience is for audiences of all ages. The show will be held by the Winter Park High School theater department at 2100 Summerfield Road in Winter Park. Tickets are $10 at the door. Oviedo-Winter Springs Regional Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce the 22nd Annual Taste of Oviedo. Taste will be at Oviedo Mall on Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This year’s event, sponsored by Air Flow Designs Heating and Air Conditioning, will offer a wide array of local tastes from restaurants, caterers and food trucks. Taste of Oviedo has over 30 food vendors participating, and has added a larger seating area geared towards our local Oviedo restaurants. The Citrus & Celery Cook-Off has been a staple of Taste since the beginning. Anyone can enter this food competition where all dishes are created, including either citrus or celery. APRIL 10

Dress in your most spectacular hat for a delightful afternoon celebrating seniors at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, at the Rosen Plaza Hotel, located at 9700 International Drive in Orlando. The Rosen Plaza Hotel hosts the ninth annual High Tea & Hats event to benefit Seniors First with exotic teas, scrumptious tea sandwiches, desserts and fresh fruit. Guests will participate in the annual stylish hat contest and parade plus enjoy the Itsy Bitsy Hat Parade, just for kids. Bid on fabulous items available in the silent and chance auctions, and purchase tickets for a chance to the “Wall of Wine” and the Grand Prize Package, all while raising funds to support Seniors First in its mission to maintain seniors’ dignity and independence with nutritional, home improvement and other much-needed support. For six consecutive spring Friday evenings (March 25 through April 29), visitors to the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art can enjoy not only free admission from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. but also live music from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. In addition to the music on those nights, the Morse will offer curator tours of the exhibition Louis Comfort Tiffany’s Laurelton Hall at 7 p.m. The April 8 programming also includes a family tour of selected galleries and a demonstration on the technique of making leaded - glass lampshades with a free take-home art activity for participants. In addition to the Winter Park Sidewalk Art Festival Open House March 18 through 20, the Museum also will offer free admission on Easter weekend March 25 through March 27, with live music and a curator tour set for Good Friday.
