APRIL 1

Mustard Seed of Central Florida will host the sixth annual Chairs 4 Charity event on Friday, April 1, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Art & History Museums – Maitland’s Maitland Art Center. The event will have a buffet, live music from the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra and a silent auction. Funds raised that night will be used to assist Central Florida families in need and to support the Chairs 4 Chairity furniture, clothing and recycling programs. The next Baldwin Park First Friday Festival will be 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 1, along New Broad Street in the Village Center. More than 60 vendors and artists will have their items on display on the sidewalks of New Broad Street. Then, stay and enjoy dinner or some drinks at the local bars and restaurants. Members and co-creators of the Winter Park Visioning Steering Committee will be visiting neighborhood parks on Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3. They will be asking for help to refine the draft vision statements and identify ideas that can fulfill the vision. Although the event is geared toward adults, it will also offer kid-friendly activities and visioning exercises, so that everyone, regardless of age, can share their ideas and input. Enjoy an energetic show opener by the Central Florida Community Arts Preschool performers, as they present “Under the Sea” followed by the kindergarten-second grade performers for an entertaining, musical voyage of “Go Fish – The Musical!” Travel under the sea to meet some fun characters! A tuna fish who can't carry a tune? A star fish who can't get an acting job? A seven-legged octopus? Join in the aquatic fun as little Tiger Shark and his unique collection of friends discover how their differences make them each special. “Go Fish – the Musical” will be held on Saturday, April 2, at 6 p.m. at Calvary Orlando, 1199 Clay St., in Winter Park. The entire Baldwin Park community is invited to Audubon Park Elementary's annual Spring Fest from 3 to 7 p.m. on April 2 at the school. With food trucks, a live DJ, carnival games, bounces houses, and much, much more, there is truly something for everyone. Activity wristbands are only $10 for children and free to adults. Baldwin Park’s annual Porch Sale & Flea Markets will be 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 2, community-wide and at Corrine Commons, Enders Park, and High Park. Come out to Baldwin Park’s annual community-wide porch sale to find some great bargains on a variety of items, from clothes and toys to electronics and furniture. “Flea Markets” will be set up at Enders Park, High Park, and at Corrine Commons in front of Grace Hopper Hall. The Central Florida Navy League will present its seventh annual Wounded Warrior/Lone Sailor 5K/10K walk, run or roll event at Blue Jacket Park on Saturday, April 2, beginning at 7:30 a.m. The event will feature the unveiling of the new Navy Lone Sailor Memorial statue installed at Blue Jacket Park. Come out on Sunday, April 3, for one of Winter Park’s most beloved events, the 13th annual Doggie Art Festival! This free family and pet friendly event will be held in north Central Park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will feature pet-related artists, vendors, and adoption organizations. Bookmark It will host its popular “Reflecting Florida: Storytelling through Image and Word” series at the APEX Meeting Hall at the East End Market in Orlando on Sunday, April 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. The book launch will feature both Gary Monroe's “E.G. Barnhill: Florida Photographer, Adventurer, Entrepreneur” and Jeff Kunerth's “Forty: Newspaper Stories 1970-2014.” The series takes a closer look at Florida's unique history through journalism and tourism.

Sunday Family Fun Days at Venue on the Lake in Maitland kickoff on April 3 with free puppet performances and workshops by MicheLee Puppets. Showtimes are at 11 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. At 11:45 a.m. there will be a parent and child puppet making class. The event is suitable for ages 2 to 6.

APRIL 6

A gardening class, “Florida Friendly - Landscaping for Shade,” runs from 2 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, at the Central Branch Library, located at 215 N. Oxford Road in Casselberry. Learn how to select and care for plants best-adapted for shady conditions. The class is free. Registration is required and space is limited. Mitchells Fish Market presents THE RIOJA and TAPAS ESCAPE as part of the Spring and Summer Patio Series on Saturday, April 9, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at 460 N. Orlando Avenue Suite 122 in Winter Park. Bring your daughter to a Magical Undersea World – the 2016 Princess Ball – on Saturday, April 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. This magical night highlights the positive relationship between fathers and daughters. For the fourth consecutive year, the A. Jones Family Foundation will be hosting the Princess Ball, at the Wyndham Grand Orlando Bonnet Creek Resort and proceeds from this event will support the programs of Florida Hospital for Children. This event features entertainment from professional ballet dancers and pageant winners, along with food, photo booth, face painting, carriage rides, silent auction, professional photography, and of course, many of the princesses from our favorite fairy tale stories. A major highlight of the evening is the elegant silent auction that features fine art, jewelry, theme park tickets, golf outings, spa retreats, weekend getaways, unique entertainment experiences and other exciting items. Tax-Aide volunteers, trained and certified by the IRS, will provide free income tax assistance at the Winter Park Library every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Thursday, April 14. Individuals seeking assistance should bring pertinent tax documents such as a copy of last year’s income tax return; forms showing income earned, pensions and Social Security; 1099 Forms showing interest and dividends, proof of health insurance coverage and photo ID of self, plus social security cards for all those listed on their return.
