The New Year’s resolution rush at the gym is over and you’re well on your way to your 2017 fitness goals! Or are you? Did you find the gym too crowded and take a few weeks off or just wait for the crowds to slow down altogether and make February your New Year? January can be an encouraging time for some with the start of the New Year and a discouraging time for others with the intimidation of the added crowds in the gym. If you’re in the latter group, February is the perfect time to put a fabulous start to your fitness routine!

The great thing about starting your fitness routine in February is that most people who joined in January have found a routine for their gym timing. This means that you can go into a gym and get a more realistic idea of what the crowd is going to look like at that time of day. For those of you who are retired or have a flexible schedule, mid-morning and mid-afternoon are typically the slower times in the gym, allowing you to more efficiently navigate the equipment with fewer people around.

Another great reason to get started in February is because you have a better and more realistic view of your schedule and routine, now that the holidays are safely behind us. It’s important when starting a fitness program to schedule a time that you can commit to several times a week without interruption. This helps ensure that you get your physical fitness in, enabling you to reach the goals you’ve set for yourself. Sometimes in January, we are so ambitious that we put too much on our plate and we must readjust in February. Now you’ve got that out of the way!

For those of us who need accountability with going to the gym or getting some activity in, it may be easier to find people to partner up with in February. Many people made the leap in January and may be looking for added motivation and accountability already, and buddy training with them may be the answer to both of your success. You’ll also run into those who still haven’t joined a gym or started an exercise routine, but meant to last month, and you can do it together. Training with someone else increases the likelihood of achieving your goals. At Anytime Fitness, Winter Park we will help partner people up who are looking for similar workout routines at similar times of day, if you don’t have someone to come with you.

This same “partnering” concept is true with personal training. Many trainers have clients who would be willing to partner up with someone during a personal training session, giving you added accountability and it makes sessions even more affordable. We’d be happy to connect you with one of our trainers and find someone who you can partner with for personal training.

With so many advantages to starting your exercise routine in February, why wait any longer? Make 2017 a fabulous year and we’d love to help you start it in FAB-ruary!
