Animals can some times end up in the weirdest places, as one Maitland woman found out yesterday.

As an unnamed woman was driving through town, she heard what sounded like a cat meowing in her car, which forced her to pull her car over.

After some time searching, the woman's husband found that a kitten had made its way under the hood of the car, taking a scary ride next to the engine.

Luckily for the couple, one heroic Maitland police officer stopped by and helped retrieve the scared kitten. But before the kitten could be taken away, the small ball of fur escaped and jumped into the engine compartment of the officer's patrol car.

After a short time, the officer was able to re-retrieve the kitten, who was reported to be doing just fine – though some safety measures were taken.

"I believe it had to be quarantined, because it had bit the officer several times while she was trying to get her out, but it was a smaller kitten," said Lt. Louis Grindle, the PIO at the Maitland Police Department.

The kitten was dropped off at an unknown location to be tested and taken care of, Grindle said.
