Winter Park City Commissioners will discuss a potential rooftop venue proposed for the future event center set for the northwest corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Park.

City Commissioners have two potential options: construct the rooftop venue for $2,612,754 or build infrastructure for $382,235 that could lead to a rooftop venue in the future.

Project architect firm Adjaye Associates has advocated adding the rooftop venue, because it would create a new destination for residents.

What’s in a Name?

The City Commission will also discuss the naming of the new library and event center.

In February, City Commissioners authorized a library task force to bring in a branding expert to take part in a naming exercise and bring forth recommendations.

The library task force suggested naming the new campus “Canopy,” and Winter Park will discuss this further at today’s meeting.
