DR. PHILLIPS Players of various ages forked and pinned each other Nov. 4 at Dr. Phillips Community Chess Club's meeting at Southwest Branch Library. Harison Sakura, Todd Kay and Jackson Wimberly won the senior, middle and junior divisions that day, respectively.
This free club meets from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. most Wednesdays at the library, with no meetings Nov. 11 and 18; Dec. 16, 23 and 20; and Jan. 20. All players who know how the pieces move are welcome, with parents encouraged to observe and welcome to play. Players are matched by skill levels and boost their planning, logic, analysis and problem-solving attributes.
