The Independence community hosted an event Aug. 4 for National Night Out, a community-building campaign that promotes partnerships between police and citizens, as well as overall camaraderie amongst neighbors.
At Independence’s block party, there were opportunities to meet safety officials, such as Orange County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Orange County Fire Rescue firefighters. Families learned about different methods to help keep their neighborhood safe.
Attendees also munched on snacks from a variety of food trucks, and free cotton candy and popcorn. Children enjoyed inflatable attractions and playing with the bubble machine.
