More than 250 runners participated in the doughnut-themed race, many stopping at the mile markers to snack on doughnuts as they went.
WINTER GARDEN Participants in the Winter Garden Police Athletic League’s Donut Dash 5k donned their doughnut-themed race shirts and took off running at 8 a.m. for a good cause. The 5k, held on Saturday, Oct. 15, benefitted the Police Athletic League, a nonprofit of WGDP that aims to improve the relationship between police officers and the public.
Runners could stop to grab a cup of water and a doughnut at each of the three mile-marker stations. Each doughnut consumed by a runner knocked a few seconds off his or her overall time.
