The Ocoee police and fire departments hosted their first annual American Warriors for Autism fundraiser on Saturday, April 14.
OCOEE – Law-enforcement officers and firefighters from the Ocoee Police Department and Ocoee Fire Department hosted their first American Warriors for Autism fundraiser– an event the departments plan to organize annually. Held Saturday morning, April 14, law-enforcement officers from local police agencies also volunteered, allowing children diagnosed with autism to run relay and obstacle courses together with first responders. The purpose of activities was to allow the children to familiarize themselves with police officers. Proceeds from the event benefitted the Autism Law Enforcement Response Training Corp and the Princeton House Charter School – an Orlando-area charter school specialized to meet the needs of children with autism.
