CFCA big man Imanuel Zorgvol picked up a double-double in the win for the Eagles.
CFCA jumped out to a big lead early on and didn't look back, as the Eagles stormed their way to a 71-16 victory over Halifax Academy in the Class 2A, Region 3 quarterfinals Thursday, Feb. 18.
Right out of the gate the Eagles (20-7) went on a rampage — going on a 34-0 run through the first quarter and into the second quarter, before the Knights (13-8) finally managed to score with 6:23 left in the first half. From there it was smooth sailing for the Eagles on their way to the 71-16 win.
Leading the way for the Eagles was senior big man Imanuel Zorgvol, who dominated on both sides of the ball by picking up 13 points — mostly on dunks — along with 10 rebounds and six blocks. Antonio Redding and Felipe Oliveira each added on 11 points apiece.
Next up for CFCA is a rematch against Mount Dora Christian Academy — who the Eagles beat in the district championship — in the regional semifinal Tuesday, Feb. 23. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
