The Ocoee police and fire departments hosted their first annual American Warriors for Autism fundraiser on Saturday, April 14.
Law-enforcement officers and firefighters from the Ocoee Police Department and Ocoee Fire Department participated in the first first American Warriors for Autism fundraiser.
Held Saturday morning, April 14, the event was hosted by Autism Law Enforcement Response Training Corporation. Law-enforcement officers from local police agencies also volunteered, allowing children diagnosed with autism to run relay and obstacle courses together with first-responders.
The purpose of activities was to allow the children to familiarize themselves with police officers. Proceeds from the event benefited the corporation and the Princeton House Charter School — an Orlando-area charter school specialized to meet the needs of children with autism.
