The Johanessen Lights were featured in 2016 on ABC's Great Christmas Light Fight.
In accordance with the season of giving, dozens of supporters made the inaugural HighLIGHT Dyslexia fundraiser on Saturday, Dec. 14, a success. Hosted by the Johanessen family at its home in Winter Park, the event raised money for The REED (Reading Education Endowment for Dyslexia) Charitable Foundation, a Central Florida-based dyslexia nonprofit. The Johanessen family is known for its Johanessen Lights, which illuminate the home in seasonal splendor each Christmas. Melissa Anderson, a Windermere resident and parent volunteer for The REED Charitable Foundation, said proceeds will go toward local student scholarships for academic testing, tutoring and tuition, as well as teacher training and professional development.
