Elijah Stimmell tossed three touchdown passes in the first half — all of which landed in the hands of Darrell Harding — and the West Orange football team cruised past visiting Gainesville in its spring game May 25, 45-7.
Although big numbers on offense thrilled the crowd at Raymond Screws Field, the Warriors’ defense showed up big, too, and never allowed the visiting Hurricanes to find a rhythm on offense.
Rising senior Austin Chilton had a pick-six interception for the Warriors. Fellow rising senior Nasir Carter had 10 tackles.
Rising junior Nemea Hall rushed for a touchdown in the first half.
West Orange, which went 7-4 and barely missed the playoffs in 2017, returns several players at the skill positions this fall — something that has the coaching staff excited for August following a successful spring.
“I like where we are,” Head said. “Our depth, to me, is a little concerning. But, other than that, I really like the way we played. They’re fun to coach.”
