Winter Park's chain of lakes was the stage for a floating, glowing holiday celebration on Saturday, Dec. 15.
A glowing holiday tradition continued on Saturday, Dec. 15, as boats decked out in Christmas lights cruised across Lake Virginia and Lake Osceola at the 11th annual Winter Park Christmas Boat Parade. Local residents and judges lined up along the shores of Lake Virginia at the Rollins College campus to watch the festivities.
The judges selected four boats as winners: Holiday Lights "Dancing Light Man” won the President’s Award for best use of lights; Housewives of Winter Park won the Mayor’s Award for Winter Park Christmas spirit; Captain Grinch & The Who won the Governor’s Award for best Christmas display; and "The Trawler” won the Winter Park Rotary Club Award for best overall boat and a grand prize of $500.
The event accepted donations supporting the Winter Park High School food pantry and the Killarney Elementary School food pantry, while also spreading awareness of the cause.
