In a showdown to decide the district champ, Winter Park stepped up big time in a 38-3 win over Boone (5-3, 2-1) on Friday, Oct. 19.
Thanks in large part to a big night from senior running back Peter Hayes-Patrick's 210 yards and three touchdowns on 34 carries, the Wildcats (8-1, 4-0) picked up their third straight district title.
The defense for the Wildcats continued to do work themselves as well, as they held the Braves to just three points on the night. Over the last six games, the Wildcats have stifled opposing offenses — giving up only 12 points total.
With the win, the Wildcats have locked in home field advantage for the first round of the playoffs. But before they can look toward the playoffs, the 'Cats have one last regular season game against Lake Mary at Showalter Field on Nov. 2.
