An explosive third inning helped seal up a spot for the 12U team in the state tournament.
The Windermere Little League 12U All-Stars dominated on the softball diamond during the Section 5 tournament on Saturday, July 6, as the team took home the section title with a 12-0 win over Oviedo.
The 12U team kicked off its Saturday morning with a big 23-0 victory over South Orange, before outmatching Oviedo later in the afternoon.
Despite an hour delay due to the field flooding from passing storms, the 12U team started off hot at the plate — scoring three runs through the first two innings of play. Then in the top of the third, WLL exploded for seven runs to push the lead to 10-0.
Oviedo would never recover, as WLL put up 12 total runs and mercy ruled Oviedo in four innings of play.
It was a big win for the 12U team, but there won't be much time to relax, as they travel to Port St. Lucie this upcoming weekend — July 12-14 — to take part in the state tournament.
