WINDERMERE  At the Taste of Windermere March 5, food brought the community together. Now, the funds raised will pour back into the community.

The Central Florida Women’s League, which presented the event, announced that the total amount raised came to more than $55,000, according to a press release. Held at The Grove shopping center, about 750 people came out for an evening filled with food and wine samples from about 25 local restaurants.

The league consists of more than 130 women who volunteer to better the community. In the last 26 years, they have raised more than $2 million to fund local charities and student scholarships. The Taste of Windermere is one of the league’s two signature, annual events, with the other being the Kentucky Derby Gala.
