Tars golf for a cause

On a beautiful, Florida “winter” morning in January, the Rollins women’s golf team hosted its annual Legends Golf Classic. Billed as a fundraiser for the nationally ranked Tars, the team this year also joined forces with CECO (Conductive Education Center of Orlando) to help spread awareness of those struggling with motor disabilities.

As in the past, the Tars donated a portion of the proceeds from the fundraiser to their co-beneficiary. The Tars visited and toured the CECO facility on Feb. 5 and presented the organization with a check for $6,000.

CECO, a non-profit organization, is a unique, holistic educational approach to help children with Cerebral Palsy and other motor disabilities achieve their greatest level of independence through physical and cognitive activities.

“We are honored to partner with such an outstanding organization, founded by Rollins alums Joe and Vicky Raymond,” said head women’s golf coach Julie Garner. “Our contribution is a small blip on their radar; we are humbled to be a small part of their growth and success.”

Last year’s event collaborated with The First Tee and Jordan Thomas Foundation.
