One man got caught trying to steal by an off-duty deputy and two individuals tried calling 911 to complain about the police.

WINTER GARDEN

June 26, 1405 block of Azalea Way. Around 6 a.m., multiple officers responded to a residence in reference to a male and female who reportedly misused emergency dispatch services by calling 911 to report having officers at his home who were commanding him to step outside. Despite on-scene officers continually asking both occupants to step out of the house, the occupants continued dialing 911 to complain about the officers. Once the officers gained entry into the home, they arrested the male and female they were transported to a jail. During transport, the male occupant spat in the back seat of the vehicle and expressed ill will toward the officers with statements that wished for their deaths and threats that he would find them on Facebook.

June 29, 1011 block of South Dillard Street. At approximately 3:30 p.m., a Winter Garden law-enforcement officer responded to a dollar store in reference to a shoplifting reported by a store manager. According to the manager, an off-duty deputy notified the manager they had witnessed a stuffing merchandise in his shirt and heading toward the exit. During this time, the off-duty deputy confronted the suspected shoplifter and asked if he was hiding any weapons or merchandise underneath his shirt. The man replied he was not. The deputy then put the man’s hands behind his back and lifted his shirt, revealing a concealed Ace bandage and auto air conditioning refrigerants totaling $95.85. It was later discovered the man had 11 prior convictions for petit theft, larceny, grand theft and was on probation for aggravated child abuse.

OCOEE

June 28, 10500 block of West Colonial Drive. At approximately 2:45 p.m., an officer located inside the Asset Protection Office of a department who, at the time, was dealing with a previous incident, witnessed an attempted shoplifting occur via camera surveillance. The occurrence was brought to the officer’s attention by a nearby Asset Protection Officer who was monitoring store patrons. Both officers turned their attention to a woman who was kneeling down on the floor concealing store merchandise in her purse. The woman then exited the store without paying for the items but was stopped. The items amounted to $13.26. The woman was placed under arrest.

OAKLAND

July 2, West Colonial Drive. Around 2:30 p.m., an officer observed a white pickup truck in the area of State Road 50 and State Road 91 that the officer knew was being driven by a man with a suspended license. The officer was aware of the driver’s suspended license because the officer had previously checked on the vehicle earlier in their shift, where they learned that the driver had a suspended license. Due to this knowledge, the officer parked on the side of State Road 50 and approached the driver. The officer immediately noticed the odor of cannabis emitting from the vehicle and asked the driver to exit the vehicle. Another officer responded to the scene for assistance and conducted a search of the truck, where they found a small bag of cannabis. The man was arrested.
