WINTER GARDEN

Sept. 22, North West Crown Point Road. At approximately 12:18 a.m., an officer observed a blue Mustang heading northbound on East Plant Street run past a stop sign. The officer pulled over the driver of the Mustang and immediately detected the odor of cannabis. The officer asked the driver if there was marijuana in the vehicle, which the driver denied. However, due to the suspected scent of cannabis, the officer searched the Mustang and located burnt “blunts” and numerous cigarillo packets and pieces all over the car, along with a clear plastic baggie containing 15 grams of marijuana in the center console. The driver was arrested and charged with possession of cannabis.

OCOEE

Sept. 23, 10000 block of West Colonial Drive. At approximately 1 p.m., a law-enforcement officer responded to a large department store in response to a retail theft. Upon arriving on scene the officer was told a man in custody had been observed concealing an opened package containing an AM/FM receiver he had selected from the electronics department in his pant's pockets. After attempting to exit the store without paying for the $39.88 item, a store employee approached him and requested he return inside the store for questioning. The man was arrested and charged with petit theft.

Oct. 2, North Clarke Road. At approximately 10:30 a.m., dispatchers sent officers to the area of a LYNX bus stop in reference to a 58-year-old man who allegedly snatched an elderly woman’s bible away from her at the bus stop. The elderly woman was reportedly sitting on a bench reading a bible when she accidentally dropped it on the floor. The suspect, who at the time was sitting next to her, reached down to pick up the bible before the woman could reach it. The woman shouted at the man, telling him to give it back, but he shoved her away and placed the bible in one of his pockets. The woman pled with the man to return her bible but the man refused and slapped the woman’s hands away from him and shoved her a second time. At this point, the woman contacted police and waited on scene. Police arrived and retrieved the woman’s bible and located $7,000 in cash on the man’s person. The man stated that he made the bible and always carries it and explained the money was from doing “work here and there.” The man was arrested and charged with robbery and battery on a person 65 years of age or older.

WINDERMERE

Sept. 23, Conroy Windermere Road. At approximately 2:10 p.m., an officer finishing up with a prior traffic stop on Conroy Windermere Road and Isleworth Country Club Drive was nearly struck by a driver in a two-door blue Honda. The driver of the Honda reportedly failed to slow down or yield to the officer’s parked patrol car. The officer returned to the patrol car to follow the Honda and checked the license plate number of the Honda, which had been reported stolen out of Orange County. The officer initiated a traffic stop and questioned the driver about the license plate, who said he found it in the woods and attached it to his car because it wasn’t registered. The three other occupants in the Honda, including a 5-year-old, were reportedly unaware of the stolen plate. The driver was arrested and charged with two misdemeanors, including not having a car registration or driver license.

At approximately 12:55 p.m, a law-enforcement officer conducting routine patrol saw a large, 5-foot long tree branch fall off the back of a white Ford dumbstruck traveling eastbound on Windermere Road. The officer stopped and cleared the roadway and proceeded to catch up with the dump truck. The officer stopped the dump truck driver and informed of him the tree branch. It was discovered the driver has a revoked license due to two prior convictions. The driver was placed under arrest and charged with driving on a revoked driver license.
