DP boys, girls track tops at Lake Brantley Classic

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS — The boys and girls track and field teams for Dr. Phillips swept top honors on Saturday at the Lake Brantley Classic in Altamonte Springs.

The Panthers boys team registered 94 points and edged Seminole (75), which placed second.

The Dr. Phillips girls team scored 157 to edge Seminole, which was also second in the girls competition, at 81 points.

The Panthers won the boys 4x400 and 4x800 relays. Vernon Walker won both events he took part in, including the 110-meter hurdles.

The Dr. Phillips girls also won the 4x400 and 4x800 relays, with Alahni Wood also winning the 100-meter hurdles and the long jump. Jah-Nay Anderson won the triple jump, Annika Sison won the 800-meters and Jamie Ivey won the 3,200-meters.

Both programs rested a few of their top performers, including star sprinter Alvin Bryant, this week's Athlete of the Week.

Both teams will compete in Winter Park on March 14 at the Brian Jaeger Elite Classic.
