 FCAT scores are in. Throughout the district, FCAT math scores have improved in grades four through 7 overall, ranging from one to six-point gains per grade level. 

The standout schools in West Orange County are Tildenville Elementary with a 39-point gain in third grade and Southwest Middle School with a 22-point gain in sixth grade. The schools with the highest performances are Whispering Oak Elementary with a 94 percent success rate in fifth grade and Thornebrooke Elementary with a 93 percent success rate in fourth grade.

Orange County is now the leader among all large urban school districts in Florida in 4th-grade math performance after a six-point gain in proficiency district wide. The county went from a 61 to 67 percent student pass rate.

In science, Orange County’s 5th-grade students performed above the state average by three percentage points, an increase from last year’s two percent. The OCPS fifth-grade pass rate is at 57 percent; the state is at 54 percent. 

Lakeview Middle School had the most gains in reading, improving by ten points. The highest performers are Whispering Oak with an 88 percent passing rate in third grade and Windermere Elementary with an 87 percent passing rate in fourth grade.
