Final few days of regular season loom large for Squeeze

With five games spanning four days left on the regular season schedule for the Winter Garden Squeeze, the possibilities for the team's playoff scenarios are numerous.

At 14-19, the Squeeze are well out of contention for the Florida Collegiate Summer League's top spot. Winter Garden is 9.5 games back of first-place Leesburg (25-11) and 3.5 games back of second-place DeLand (20-16).

The FCSL standings are a jumble from third to sixth place, though, meaning the Squeeze — currently sitting in fifth place — could end the season as high as third place or as low as sixth place in the six-team league. A sixth place finish would leave Winter Garden out of the postseason, entirely, as only the top five teams advance.

The Squeeze are currently just 1.5 games behind the third-place Sanford River Rats (16-18), and Winter Garden will head to Sanford July 25 for its final regular season matchup with Sanford.

The Squeeze are a half-game behind Winter Park (15-19) in the standings, and that is the team Winter Garden will face for its final four games.

The Seminole County Scorpions (15-22) currently are the odd man out in the Florida League Playoffs, which begin Monday with the No. 4-No. 5 Play-In Game, but are only one game behind the Squeeze in the standings.

After playing Sanford July 25, Winter Garden will play a double-header at Winter Park July 26 before returning home to Heller Bros. Ballpark July 27 and July 28 to host the Dawgs in the final two home games of the regular season, both of which will begin at 6 p.m.
