WEST ORANGE -- At about 5:30 a.m. Sept. 10, five cars crashed at the intersection of Silver Star and Apopka-Vineland roads, killing one Orlando woman, according to Florida Highway Patrol reports, which have since been updated for more accurate information.

Jose Antonio Lane, 17, of Winter Garden, was driving a stolen Lexus and is in critical condition at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Another male driver had stolen a Dodge Challenger involved in the crash but fled the scene on foot with a passenger. Authorities are searching for them.

Lane was traveling east on Silver Star Road while Ruben Suarez, 37, of Apopka, was driving south on Apopka-Vineland Road and the other three vehicles were going north on Apopka-Vineland Road.

Lane's car's front hit the right side of Suarez's SUV. Then the SUV struck the left side of Annette Walton's car, and Lane's car hit the left rear of the car of Gregory Prowell, 30, of Orlando, who did not receive medical transport for minor injuries. But medical examiners pronounced Walton, 58, dead on the scene, and Suarez is in serious condition.

After the collision, the Challenger was in the process of a right turn to go east on Silver Star Road but smashed into Prowell's car. The Challenger driver continued to a Silver Star Road parking lot where he and the passenger fled.

Troopers are still investigating the incident to determine which vehicle went through a red light, and charges are pending. Call (407)-737-2213 if you have further information about this incident.
