WINTER GARDEN — Florida Hospital leaders, physicians, and elected officials celebrated a milestone at the hospital's Winter Garden campus March 18 at a Topping Out ceremony.

The ceremony commemorated the construction process reaching the hospital's top height of three stories. The milestone celebrates the construction and design team’s achievement since the project began with the pouring of orange concrete into the foundation in October 2014. In keeping with the Topping Out tradition, a tall crane hoisted a tree atop the new hospital.

“Florida Hospital is excited to be Winter Garden’s partner in health, and I am personally thrilled to be part of building a world-class health care facility in and for the West Orange community,” said Amanda Maggard, administrator of Florida Hospital Winter Garden.

Those gathered for the ceremony lent their names to the 25-foot support beam, which was the final piece added to the hospital structure during the ceremony.

The facility will feature a stand-alone emergency department staffed 24-hours a day, seven-days a week. It also will include an imaging center, outpatient laboratory, outpatient surgery, sports medicine and rehabilitation and access to a multi-specialty physician practices.

The three-story, 97,000-square-foot hospital is set to open in late 2015.
